2015 Premier’s Awards success

KCA researchers were again recognised for their outstanding contribution to cancer research in NSW at the 2015 Premier’s Awards for Outstanding Cancer Research. This time around, it was two teams from the Children’s Cancer Research Unit at Kids Research Institute that took the honours.

The ‘Excellence in Translational Cancer Research’ award went to Prof Ian Alexander Dr Geoff McCowage, and Dr Belinda Kramer and for their gene therapy research into treatment and side effects in children with brain cancer. A/Prof Dan Catchpoole and collaborators from UTS and UWS were awarded the ‘Big Data, Big Impact’ award for their data mining project, which aims to provide clinicians with data enabling tailored treatment decisions to be made for each child with cancer.

Congratulations all!
